Forget the Algorithm
A music blog by someone with too many playlists and not enough time
That First Listen Magic
You know the feeling—
A song kicks in and suddenly everything else blurs out.
You pause. You rewind. You hit play again, just to hear that moment one more time.
That’s the kind of magic I’m chasing.
Note: I’ll no longer be linking to Spotify. Going forward, expect links from YouTube Music and Bandcamp.
Why This Blog Exists (And Why It’s Not Just Another “New Music Friday” Recap)
Music isn’t just about staying ahead of the curve.
Sometimes, it’s about looking back.
Or sitting with something until it finally clicks.
This blog is a mix of:
-
Albums I’ve lived with—the ones I revisit, recontextualize, and re-fall in love with
-
Deep dives into classics—yes, even the overplayed ones (they’re usually worth it)
-
New finds that feel like old friends
-
And the weird little tracks I stumbled across at 2am and can’t stop thinking about
I won’t stick to one genre. Or one decade. Or one vibe.
If it hits, it hits. Simple as that.
Classics Aren’t Boring
There’s a reason some albums stick around.
Not every post will be about a forgotten lo-fi EP from the Slovenian underground scene (though... maybe one or two).
But just as often, I’ll write about:
-
That Funkadelic album that never misses
-
Why Outkast still sounds so fresh (and so clean)
-
What made The Archer hit differently five years later
-
How Never Too Much still stuns, front to back
These are the kinds of records that grow with you.
They’re worth talking about again.
But Yeah, I Like the Strange Stuff Too
Don’t worry—I’ll still make space for the one-off single with 317 plays.
Because music discovery? That’s the other half of the thrill.
You’ll find:
-
Small-label surprises
-
Underloved B-sides
-
Forgotten collabs
-
Maybe even a few guilty pleasures (though I don’t really believe in that term)
Who’s This For?
This blog is for you if you:
-
Listen to albums all the way through (even the weird interludes)
-
Still remember what song was playing during a breakup
-
Like your recommendations with a side of backstory
-
Believe music is best when it’s personal, not programmed
Let’s Get Into It
I’m not here to chase trends or pretend my taste is cooler than yours.
I’m here to write about what I love—and maybe help you find something to love, too.
So whether you're deep into the discographies or just looking for something new to soundtrack your commute—
Welcome. Stay awhile. Bring headphones.
Your next favorite track might be one you already know.
Or maybe you haven’t heard it yet.
Either way, I’ll be here writing about both.
